How to make a turkey bone broth
- After enjoying your turkey, place turkey bones in a large pot. It’s alright if there’s still some meat on there too. If you don’t have time to do this within a day or two of enjoying your turkey, you can also freeze the bones for later use.
- Fill pot with just enough water to submerge all bones.
- Add garlic cloves, celery, carrots, onion, rosemary, parsley, bay leaves, salt, black pepper and apple cider vinegar to pot.
- Heat stove top on medium high. Once the pot begins to boil, reduce heat to a simmer. Let broth simmer for 8-12 hours.
- Remove large pieces of carcass or vegetables with a mesh or slotted spoon.
- Pour broth through a mesh strainer and into a bowl with a spout to remove small pieces of herbs and bones.
- Fill jars with bone broth for storing. Be sure to only fill 3/4 of the way if you’d like to freeze because the broth will expand and may break glass jars.
- Use bone broth to sip on as a beverage, or cook with in soups, sauces and gravies. I like adding it to mashed potatoes or braised meats for added flavor and nutrition!
