Ingredients

  • Step 1

    First begin by seasoning the turkey patties on both sides with a mixture of the salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Set aside.
  • Step 2

    Begin caramelizing your onions by heating the olive oil over medium heat in a skillet.
  • Step 3

    Add the sliced onions and stir occasionally until they are golden brown, about 15 minutes.
  • Step 4

    While the onions are caramelizing, heat a cast iron skillet over medium high heat and cook the burgers for 5 minutes on the first side and flip. Cook an additional 4-6 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees.
  • Step 5

    To the onions, add the balsamic vinegar and stir well.
  • Step 6

    When the burgers are done, while still hot in the skillet, top with the gruyere cheese and a spoonful of the caramelized onions.
  • Step 7

    Build the burger by layering arugula and the french onion patty on an onion bun. Enjoy!
